Global Forum on Agri-food Outlook held in Mexico City

The Global Forum on Agri-food Outlook was held in Mexico City on May 19th, 2014. More than 300 participants attended the Forum, representing agricultural ministries and departments, research institutions, financial institutions around the world and international organizations.

 

Hosted by the Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, Rural Development, Fisheries and Food (SAGARPA) of the United Mexican States, the Forum focused on seven topics, including Integration of Agro-Industrial Markets in North America: Challenges and Opportunities, Agricultural Inputs (Fertilizers, Seeds, Water) and Health, Support for Small Farmers. Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto attended the Opening Ceremony of the Forum.  Mr. Enrique Martínez y Martínez, SAGARPA Secretary, and Mr. Tom Vilsack, Secretary of the U.S. Department of Agriculture and Mr. Gerry Ritz, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada attended and addressed the Forum.

 

Mr. Wang Ying, Director-General of the MOA Department of International Cooperation joined a panel of the Forum and delivered a speech entitled "Increasing Support to Agricultural Production and Earnestly Protect Global Food Security".
